The SIUE CDF Freedom School Program is a free, six-week, literacy-based summer program for students who have completed grades 5-8 in Spring 2024. The mornings are dedicated to the integrated reading curriculum and afternoons consist of various enrichment on campus, field trips, and social action activities. Freedom School encourages a love of reading and learning through a culturally diverse curriculum.

Get ready to blast off into the world of rockets and discover the amazing science behind them. You'll become a rocket safety superstar by learning all about the model rocket safety code. You'll also uncover the secrets of how rockets soar through the sky, stay perfectly balanced, and return safely to Earth. Each day, you'll get to build a rocket from a sleek and awesome Mad Science rocket kit to a rocket made of toilet paper tubes – how cool is that? You'll also be part of a real launch team! Imagine working together with your new friends as altitude trackers, launch preparers, and launchers. Every day, you'll watch in awe as we send a rocket soaring high into the sky.

Great for children entering 2nd - 5th grade. Children entering K-1st grade will enjoy it as well with a little more help from fellow campers or instructors.

Note: Our camp includes everything your child needs during the camp. However, if you wish to continue your child’s interest in rocket launches at home, you will need to purchase a launch kit online or from a store.

Ever dream of becoming a secret agent? We'll start with the basics: From decoding messages to metal detector and night vision, campers have the opportunity to check out spy tech equipment and take home lots of gadgets like spy glasses! Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis! Figure out the science of forensics in a hands-on look at crime scenes! Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on investigation of the science that spies use!

Summerscape is a summer program for gifted students who are currently enrolled in grades 6, 7 and 8. Gifted students are offered an opportunity to enhance their areas of interest, to investigate new ideas and to interact with their peers in a caring, safe, and fun learning environment. Besides participating in courses not offered in most schools, students familiarize themselves with life on a university campus. Classes meet Monday – Friday. Please check the information you receive after you register for times and locations. Classes meet July 15-19. The residential program runs July 14-21. Since its foundation in 1981, Summerscape has earned an excellent reputation for providing quality gifted education experiences. We look forward to you joining us for a challenging, rewarding educational experience. Classes meet 9 to noon and 1-4 pm.

The Duke Pre-College Program provides advanced academic opportunities and an introduction to the college experience to students currently in grades 6-11. In addition to accessing university facilities and labs, our students interact and learn from renowned faculty and researchers. In this fun STEAM course, students develop 2-D multi-level classic games as they learn and apply coding fundamentals to their game projects. Additionally, students learn game design concepts as they create, design, and code their own versions of Pac-Man, Galaxy Cat, Tic Tac, Toe, and creative side-scrolling video games!

A week long studio art expereince with an emphasis on encouragement and the utilization of a authentic studio art materials and tools. During the week we will utilize wire, clay, found objects, while exploring the three-dimensional sculptural building process.

Build a boat and develop the design that will enable it to stay afloat. Expereiment with various materials to get the best results. The ideas are endless! Who will win the grand prize for best design and buoyancy?

Come to campus ready to learn the basic principles of robotics! Using Lego SPIKE Prime, teams of campers will have the opportunity to invent, design, and build robots while learning the basic structure of computer programming.
