Working from a live model, students will learn the fundamentals of portrait drawing in charcoal and graphite. Over the course of the week, the artist and instructor will discuss strategies for defining facial anatomy and determining light and value to resolve the image into a solid likeness. The course will also cover staging, lighting the model, and compositional strategies.
