Join us in the Maryville Crime Lab where we will solve puzzles about crimes just like a scientist!

Roll up your sleeves, put on your makers cap, and get ready to create! This is our most hands-on camp! Together, campers will build a geodesic dome large enough to sit in. Who can build the strongest bridge? Can your bridge withstand the shake rattle and roll challenge? Explore the world of birds and beasts with bird feeder building and our super bug investigation. Speaking of birds, what did Hooty the owl have for dinner? A mouse? A Squirrel? A Frog? Kids will dissect owl pellets and reconstruct Hooty’s dinner. Enter the Mad Science chemistry lab and mix, mash, and brew concoctions to create cool sidewalk chalk and bath fizzers! Assemble and control pulleys, levers, catapults, simple machines, and megapinchers! Campers will discover the wonders of photography and make their own chromatography-dyed T-shirt. It’s a week packed with non-stop science fun! Complimentary after-care is included from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Additional before and after-care is available through Ballwin Parks and Recreation.

We are always evolving and advancing our offerings at Burr Oak. These offerings will change from session to session, but may also change week to week. Our goal is to provide our campers with a valuable experience that not only highlights social interaction, but places an emphasis on physical activity, problem solving, and creative engagement.

The tactile possibilities are endless! From scaly bubble wrap to fluffy felt; learn to add another sensory layer to your work of art! Get ready for a soft, squishy, scratchy, and bouncy week while we traverse touch and texture through the use of found and recycled materials.

How do you draw a sound? We will use sound to inspire our creative visions; transporting us to our wildest daydreams! Sounds of Tower Grove Park, Arsenal Street, birds, bands, neighbors walking by all serve as inspiration as we explore the connection between the world around us and the art we make.
