Marine Environmental Science explores the diversity of coastal marine habitats and ecosystems and the tools scientists use to study them, with an emphasis on topics related to human impacts and environmental health.

Nursing Camp, facilitated by Auburn University School of Nursing (AUSON) and Auburn Youth Programs (AYP), is an engaging one-week summer program available for high school students interested in careers in nursing. Camp participants “learn by doing” and practice technical skills as they rotate through interactive learning stations led by undergraduate nursing students in the school’s labs and simulation center. Faculty use case studies and simulation scenarios to bring healthcare specializations like emergency medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and home health to life as the teens provide care for simulated patients throughout the week. The week includes team competitions, learning opportunities with community healthcare professionals, and discussion of educational pathways to nursing.

This summer, spend one week immersed in the fast-paced, challenging, and rapidly evolving world of nursing. Our Nursing Academy offers an introduction to the nursing field, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of the profession along with a variety of career paths and specializations, such as adult-gerontology, acute care, family practice, anesthesia, and women's health. You’ll also examine topics ranging from ethics and cultural competencies to biological, physical, and social sciences. Throughout the program, you’ll engage in faculty-led instruction and hands-on clinical experiences using a lifelike patient simulator at Georgetown’s O’Neill Family Foundation Clinical Simulation Center.

The 1-Week Medical Academy introduces you to the field of medicine and gives you a glimpse into the Georgetown University Medical Center, which includes the nationally ranked School of Medicine and School of Nursing & Health Studies, in addition to the world-renowned Lombardi Cancer Center. You'll explore topics ranging from human anatomy, physiology, and radiology to surgery, cancer, biomedical ethics, and procurement of human tissues. You’ll participate in hands-on labs, including suturing, orthopedic casting, small mammal dissection, and use of a patient simulator. You will have the opportunity to interact directly with current medical students, Georgetown University School of Medicine faculty, and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital physicians to learn about the path to becoming a physician, discover ways to succeed in medical school, and explore a variety of medical specialties.

For the past 30 years, Clemson University has offered a summer enrichment program for gifted middle and high school students. In addition to challenging courses, we provide opportunities for fun, friendship and a Clemson experience. This year’s program has even more to offer with new classes available for all students. You’ll use University materials and equipment to conduct your scientific investigations. You’ll live in a semiprivate room in a campus dormitory and eat in a University dining hall. Qualified counselors will supervise dormitory life and all activities. You’ll have complete access to area medical facilities, including the University health center. If you’re an advanced high school student, the two-week classes provide a great opportunity to delve deeply into specialized topics.
