Our Writer's Workshop at Amherst is a welcoming space for beginners and advanced writers alike. Students work with our expert faculty of professional writers and university writing instructors and come away with more advanced skills, new ideas, a brimming portfolio, and a refined sense of their own voice. Creative writing prompts and exercises make practicing new techniques fun. We also take advantage of the deep literary history of the area and find inspiration walking the same paths as greats such as Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and others.

The Berkshire Writer’s Program is anchored on the campus of Amherst College and features an abundance of focused writing time and exploration of the environs that inspired local writers. Experiential and fun, this program is crafted to sharpen skills, cultivate imagination, and spur creation. It’s the perfect place for both new writers to find their voices and for experienced writers to further develop their skills and concentrate on their work. In addition to visits to Amherst writers’ haunts, students will travel to and write at places like The Mount, Edith Wharton’s famed estate, and Arrowhead, the home of Herman Melville. And, of course, there will be time for hang outs with new friends and summer fun too!

Harvard Summer School’s Secondary School Program (SSP) is a 4- or 7-week academic program for motivated high school students ready to excel in academically rigorous college courses for college credit. Within the SSP, you will choose between taking one 4-week course while living on campus, or our more flexible 7-week option that offers residential, online, or commuting formats with the potential for one or two courses. Over the summer, you’ll gain the confidence to do well in college that comes from successfully navigating a healthy balance between advanced coursework, extracurricular activities, and new friends.

The Indiana Wesleyan University School of Nursing is excited to present a summer nursing camp experience. Immerse yourself in the career of nursing with hands-on, interactive opportunities through skills development, simulations, CPR and first aid training. You will also hear from guest speakers who are leaders in the nursing field. As a high school student considering a career in nursing, you will be exposed to numerous areas: transcultural, geriatric, maternal/child, surgery and more. One unique component of this experience includes a guided cadaver lab tour, where students will view preserved human organs and, with additional permission, have the option to observe a full human donor body. This powerful educational opportunity enhances understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and the complexity of the body’s systems—providing a rare and respectful look into real-life nursing education. Our Pre-College program, open to high schoolers aged 15–18, is a three-week summer experience designed to help you discover what life would be like as a Maine College of Art & Design undergraduate student. Through immersive studio courses, hands-on projects, and critiques led by experienced faculty, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a working artist or designer in a collegiate setting. During Pre-College, you’ll develop your admissions portfolio with guidance from professional artists, strengthening both your technical skills and creative voice. You’ll also refine your ability to analyze and discuss artwork by developing language for artistic critiques—an essential skill for both college and professional settings. Beyond the classroom, you'll connect with like-minded peers from across the country, forming friendships that often last well beyond the summer. Throughout the program, you’ll stay on campus in our residence halls, giving you the full college experience. Living in a creative community with fellow students, you’ll have access to shared spaces for collaboration, independent work, and social activities. Our on campus IN FOCUS Seminars expose students to top former and current Northwestern affiliated instructors highlighting themes relevant today. These two-week certificate seminars are structured like a college seminar course. Seminars feature discussions, readings and study; enabling a rich learning experience. Once you successfully complete your seminar you will receive an official Northwestern University transcript and certificate. Students earn a Satisfactory "S" grade by attending and participating in all classes, and completing all assignments. IN-FOCUS courses include access to our "Wildcat Connect: Get Ready Series." This series adds an additional robust co-curricular component to your schedule outside of the classroom with interactive workshops that will prepare you for college and integrate you into the Wildcat community!

Under the leadership of our Top 50 Director of Golf Instruction Maria Palozola (Top 50 Master U.S. Kids Coach, Top 50 LPGA Teacher, Top 50 Golf Range Association of America Growth of the Game Instructor), the Tower Tee staff will teach all the basic fundamentals (through instruction and fun games) needed for Lil Teesters and the Birdie Bunch to fall in love with golf and learn to play with confidence. Break time on the playground as well as fun competitions on the mini golf course will keep the kids wanting to come back for more!

The Drury Leadership Academy is carefully planned for college-bound students who have completed the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior year in high school. The objective of DLA is to provide students with opportunities to learn about and practice leadership skills, thereby enhancing their quality of life and preparing them to assume future leadership roles in our society. The Academy curriculum is a pre-college program designed to utilize logic and reason to analyze complex issues, communicate clearly, weigh decisions with balanced perspectives, accept responsibility, and care about others. The intensive program offers strong preparation for college classes and residential life in a supportive environment that fosters personal growth. Classes are held from 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. July 14 – 18. The residential program runs July 12 – 19.

The ATSU-Truman Healthcare Academy is a summer academy aimed at high school students who will have completed grades 9-11 at the end of the school year. Partnering with A.T. Still University, Truman State University offers high school students interested in a career in the healthcare field a week on campus to learn about health professions through hands-on activities and stimulating discussions. Students live in a residence hall on the Truman campus under the supervision of resident staff and preceptors and participate in a variety of activities held each day.

Bring your dad jokes and your sense of humor to this unusual, April Fool’s Day themed hike. This program takes place on Saturday, April 4th starting at 1 pm and lasts about an hour. $5/non-member, FREE for members. Pre-registration is required.
