This fun and lively introduction to dance is perfect for those interested in sampling moves and choreography. Inspired by current and classic pop music stars and their styles, we learn a different style of choreography and dance step each day and create props and accessories to augment our performance. PopNation concludes with an in-person performance during the final 20 minutes of camp.

If you "love rock 'n' roll," work with teaching artists in this camp on a variety of group songs and solo features from artists like Journey, The Beatles, and Queen. Practice vocal technique and performance strategies, including breath control, posture, and vocal expression. Let there be rock! Rock the House concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp.

In the spirit of books, films, and stories, such as Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy, create a movie narrative about a wildly imagined futuristic, high-tech world. Explore time and space travel, aliens, and creatively conceived "scientific" stories. Working in small groups, you write the script, scout locations in and around COCA, direct, perform, shoot, and edit your movie. Sci-Fi Movie Making concludes with families receiving a digital link of their camper's work sent the week following camp.

Working individually and in small groups, we imagine, design, and build our own amazing structures. We explore clay, paper maché, and wire as sculptural medium as we practice both additive and subtractive techniques. Adding rocks, leaves, sticks, and other natural materials, we imagine our sculptures as part of the outdoor setting. From functional to purely fantastical, we discover the many different ways to see in the third dimension. Sculpture Garden concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

COCA vocal music teachers help each camper gain confidence as they explore singing fun songs from different styles of music, such as pop, musical theatre, folk, or rock. They work on musicality, rhythm, breath support, articulation, and tone; and also performance skills, such as posture and vocal expression. Singing in Style concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp.

Campers use visual and digital art to design their own stickers and buttons. Campers use these creations to decorate their water bottles, backpacks, and more for the next school year. Sticker & Button Designs concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Working in COCA's outdoor spaces, we learn about master artists, incredible street art, and the purposes behind public art. We collaboratively create our own outdoor masterpieces to inspire fellow campers and their families coming to and from our building. Street Art concludes with campers bringing home the work they created. This camp primarily takes place in an outdoor studio in COCA’s courtyard but will move indoors as weather requires.

Designed for beginning dancers, this camp offers an introduction to tap. Each day, campers warm up and explore rhythm, dance steps, and energetic choreography. Campers also build props that connect to their performance pieces. Tappin' Toes concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. While tap shoes are welcome, there is no need to buy special shoes for this camp; campers may dance in sneakers.

Campers explore a range of acting approaches and techniques designed to enhance their "toolkit" when approaching a character. They play acting games to work on expressing emotions and creating scenes. Learn how movement, physicality, and voice/speech can bring characters to life. Through their work, they learn different methods for creating characters that captivate audiences and draw them into the world of the play. Young Actor's Toolbox concludes with a performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp.

This camp is designed for young performers looking for practical instruction in acting for the camera. A working actor guides campers through practicing on-camera interviews and monologues, even helping us create a mock commercial. Throughout the camp, we play back our work, gaining peer and instructor feedback to "try another take." Campers receive access to videos of their best on-camera work. Art and technology supplies and equipment use included in price.

Energetic campers are sure to have fun while enhancing their singing, dancing, and acting skills. Each day, we explore and practice all three arts disciplines as we work together to collaboratively create a mini-production. Camp culminates in a musical revue from popular, family-friendly musicals, including The Little Mermaid, Frozen and Matilda. Another Opening Another Show concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. We use mirrors, metal, glass, water and even shattered surfaces to see and reflect the world around us in new ways. We paint and draw our observations "through the looking glass," to create cool new art from this different point of view. We also experiment with reflections in photography, and even include mirrors in mixed media creations. Art Reflections concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Campers learn to “twist” balloon animals and engineer complex balloon sculptures. We then learn to juggle and experiment with different juggling techniques. Campers learn the principles of juggling two, three, or even four objects. We even create our own juggling balls to practice with in the future! Balloons & Juggling concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Campers learn about balloon animals and have fun making balloon sculptures. We head outdoors to create unbelievably giant bubbles and design beautiful bubble art.
