Teen Institute develops an understanding of prevention, teaches leadership and programming strategies, and offers workshops, games, sports, dancing, and plenty of time to hang out and have fun.

Earth, Wind, and Water is a camp for high school students that focuses on learning some of the basics of Meteorology and Environmental Science! Campers will participate in numerous events and classes led by current SLU students and professors, as well as presentations and demonstrations from professionals in the National Weather Service and the WATER Institute. No prior knowledge of any topics is required–this is a great opportunity for campers to have an introduction to Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and to learn more in-depth for those who already have some knowledge! Campers will take part in a multitude of activities, including but not limited to water analysis and purification techniques, weather forecasting and analysis tools, and the importance and impacts of solar radiation on the environment. Attendees will also visit the St. Louis Science Center and analyze real-life data from a weather balloon that they get to help launch!

The Saint Louis University Aviation Summer Academy is a six-day, five-night residential camp that invites students entering grades 11 and 12 to learn more about different areas of study and career paths in aviation. During the academy, Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology faculty, certified flight instructors and student mentors guide participants through hands-on activities in subjects that include flight science, aviation management, aerial navigation, aircraft design, unmanned aerial vehicles and air traffic control. Academy participants also take flights in Saint Louis University airplanes with our certified flight instructors, participate in off-campus field trips and explore SLU’s campus.

The Saint Louis University Engineering Summer Academy is a six-day, five-night residential camp where rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can learn about the varying fields and career paths in engineering. Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology faculty and student mentors guide academy participants through hands-on activities in aerospace and mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer and electrical engineering, and civil engineering. Academy participants also attend off-campus excursions into the engineering industry, hear from guest speakers working in the field and explore Saint Louis University.

Each summer brings something different for campers at Sherwood Forest as they build upon the skills they learned the year before. Our Quest and Supports for Success programs are designed to reduce summer learning loss, foster a love of learning, and build the soft skills that research has shown are critical to academic achievement, high school graduation and success in post-secondary education.
