Imagine creating your own mobile app and running it on your phone within the first hour of camp. With MIT’s App Inventor, that’s exactly what campers can do. App Inventor uses an intuitive visual, block-based programming system that makes it easy for beginners to start building real mobile applications right away. By snapping together coding blocks that represent logic and actions, students quickly learn how apps work and how to design their own. Don’t let the quick start fool you — App Inventor is a powerful development platform created at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Students will build increasingly sophisticated apps that combine graphics, user input, sensors, and internet connectivity. Along the way they learn core programming ideas such as logic, decision making, and event-driven programming while gaining insight into how modern mobile apps are designed and deployed.
