Explore what remains of historic Fort Kaskaskia by participating in an archaeological dig during the day, then explore a college campus in the evenings. Fort Kaskaskia consists of both an American and a French fort on two separate locations; the Lewis and Clark expedition stopped at the fort in 1803 to pick up troops and supplies for their trip. Possible side quests include the Pierre Menard home, Fort de Chartes, The James West House, and the Center for Archaeological Investigations Curation Center. Learn about Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), drones, and how to conduct an archaeological dig that uses the latest in technology in addition to the traditional excavation and mapping techniques.
