The PEAK summer programs introduce high school juniors and seniors to a community of learners and explorers. Students will spend some hours each day studying the Great Books, some hours in outdoor recreation unique to our college, and some time resting in prayer and the sacraments. Outdoor activities include horseback riding, rock-climbing, rappelling, and a 4-day backpacking trip. All ability levels are welcome! A few hours each day will be spent in college-level classes, learning to think and reason. Taught by WCC professors, students will study philosophy, theology, Latin, and literature. Participants will be sent a short selection of readings to complete prior to arrival at WCC. Students will immerse themselves in a rich spiritual life with daily Mass, adoration and Liturgy of the Hours. Embracing one’s Faith here in God’s country is quite easy – and rewarding. Afternoons and many evenings will be spent outdoors in the splendor of the Wind River Mountain Range and college campus. Students will enjoy a variety of activities – all of which will be catered to the individual fitness and experience levels of each participant: Trail runs and hiking in Sinks Canyon; Fly fishing in the trout-filled Popo Agie River; Horseback riding on local ranches and mountain trails; Swimming in local lakes; Evening dances, coffee shops, and movie nights; A three night backpacking trip – (gear, training, and food provided). Students will stay in dorms on our campus, and meals will be provided in Frassati Hall. We are happy to accommodate food allergies. PEAK 2018 is open to students who are entering their junior or senior year of high school and are at least 16 years of age. The application process involves an online application form, $100 deposit, and a high school transcript. $995 covers all lodging, food, equipment, recreation fees, books, and shuttles to/from the Denver International Airport. A $100 non-refundable deposit will reserve your spot. We offer an early bird discount of $300 for applications received before February 28.
