During this shortened, four-day week, campers will head to various locations on campus to play classic backyard and indoor party games. The field, gym, and, dining room, and theater, will all be utilized to play games like croquet, frisbee golf, badminton, bags, washers, hot foot, and ping pong, to name a few. Although there will be no off-campus field trip this week, campers will swim on Wednesday and Friday.

Explore the world of age-appropriate fiction, fantasy, and graphic novels as campers bring their stories and characters to life! Campers will explore their interests in fantasy through the study of art, literature, and technology. They will conduct research to imagine, design, and create their own fictional characters through a mix of hands-on and AI generated tools. Campers will have a final project to present to fellow campers and to bring home at the end of the week.

Climb on! Climbing! Our campus rock climbing wall will challenge and strengthen campers as they learn the safety and climbing skills necessary to summit! Climbing is an important part of our curriculum and our equipment is designed to fit campers of all ages. Harness and helmet fitting, basic knot tying, and climbing techniques are some of the topics discussed during this fast paced week. In addition to climbing, our youngest campers will engage in a fun and interactive art project while learning about famous climbers and explorers.

Our greenhouse and gardens provide wonderful opportunities to connect with nature as campers interact with native plants and fresh vegetables. In addition to exploring the spaces and engaging in plant and natural material related activities, campers will observe the insects and wildlife that play important roles in our schoolyard ecosystem. All campers will choose their own herb or vegetable to take home and grow this summer!

Campers will explore the state park system in Missouri and southern Illinois. We will investigate and highlight the unique geological features and ecosystems within these parks and conservation areas. Additionally, campers will visit a state park where they will have the opportunity to play, hike, and explore. At the end of the session, campers will create a personal list of state parks that they want to visit with their families after camp has ended. They will develop an itinerary complete with park locations, attractions, and directions to share with their families.

Join us for a week of archery, sports, games, and accuracy challenges! Voyager campers will learn the basics of the Genesis compound bow before heading to the range for practice. If you did this camp last year, we have an extra instructor that will help you improve upon the skills gained last summer. Explorers and Adventurers will engage in individual and cooperative games. Sports and games may include soccer, basketball, bowling, bocce, putt putt challenges, soft/magnetic darts, pool noodle tag, and more.

We are excited to bring back Babysitter’s Training Camp. TCS nurse, Jen Martin, will teach the skills necessary to be a successful and safe babysitter. This course offers hands-on training in skills needed to babysit such as: developmentally appropriate play, safe handling of infants and toddlers, feeding, diapering, and much more.  This course will also include the opportunity to earn American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Certification and infant CPR and first aid certification.

We'll start with the basics: From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers have the opportunity to check out spy tech equipment and take home lots of gadgets like spy glasses! Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis! Figure out the science of forensics in a hands-on look at crime scenes! Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on investigation of the science that spies use!

Tree climbing is a safe, active, meaningful, and unique outdoor experience that allows participants to explore the canopy of a giant living organism. Vertical Voyages can be a catalyst for learning and growth by providing participants the challenge and opportunity to engage in transformative outdoor experiences. In this immersive camp, students will climb trees using ropes, learn about forest ecology, identify trees, and build skills needed to climb like tying knots.
