You and your classmates will apply core research methodologies to models, principles, and discoveries within the discipline, and investigate the fundamental neurological structures associated with cognitive processes.

This course explores foundational concepts, starting with electromagnetism. You’ll map the electric field lines generated by an electric charge and investigate current, voltage, resistance, energy, and magnetism.

Georgetown offers a range of courses. These challenging courses are designed for students who want to experience university-level academics while building up their resumes for college applications. You can take up to 6 college credits per session, earning up to 12 college credits over the course of the summer.

The Bioscience Institute at the Wake Forest Summer Immersion Program is an unforgettable summer experience for high school students. Students will learn the fundamentals of scientific inquiry and experimentation, gaining experience with data collection and analysis while deepening their understanding of biological theory. This hands-on, interactive course will cover how human activities impact the natural world, focusing on ecology, and environmental biology.

Are you interested in health and how exercise can help you be healthier? Have you wondered how the body works and the testing practices used to identify and treat diseases? Gain hands-on experience in the health and exercise science field and insight into the many career opportunities available in the different disciplines of exercise science. Students will learn from Wake Forest faculty about the different systems in the body, practice using technology for health procedures like blood pressure and electromyography (EMG), and tour on and off-campus facilities dedicated to health and fitness.

Gain hands-on experience in the medical field and insight into the many career opportunities available within the various disciplines of medicine. You’ll visit healthcare facilities in Winston-Salem, participate in simulations and labs, and learn basic skills like taking blood pressure and suturing.

The Wake Forest Summer Immersion Neuroscience Institute is an unforgettable experience for high school students. Neuroscience is an exciting and rapidly growing interdisciplinary field encompassing the study of the nervous system and its role in regulating behavior. Students will examine the structure of the brain through hands-on dissection, learn how drugs affect the brain and how sensory systems detect stimuli in the environment, visit active neuroscience labs, and conduct exciting neuroscience experiments.

You will be out in the field during this course, developing your skills in nature observation and animal tracking in the context of modern ecology. You will become familiar with the details of the lives of local wildlife including coyotes, deer, foxes, raccoons, opossums, weasels, mice, and bobcats. Topics and skills covered include local natural history, wildlife habitat assessment, clear print track identification, wildlife conservation, and the role of humans in today's ecosystems.
