In NYFA’s teen summer camps and filmmaking workshops, students aged 14-17 build skills in filmmaking and content creation through hands-on experience. Throughout the course of the film camps and workshops, our faculty of professional filmmakers and directors teach filmmaking for teens, training aspiring storytellers to write, shoot, direct, and edit their own original content. For those who complete our level-one classes that cover the fundamentals of filmmaking, we also have a selection of level-two classes. In NYFA’s six-week film camp for teens, students aged 14-17 study the art and craft of filmmaking. Through hands-on projects and coursework, students quickly learn how to direct, write, edit, and produce their own short films. This intensive film summer camp offers aspiring visual storytellers the opportunity to learn how to make a short film. Using professional-grade HDSLR cameras, professional lighting, and sound equipment, students create original video content, learning fundamental skills and techniques. Throughout the course, students study and practice a range of topics such as basic screenwriting structure, and how to edit and manage post-production, as well as how to direct actors. The final film that each student creates during the camp also incorporates dialogue using sync-sound. The projects that students create receive feedback and guidance from faculty, as well as their peers.

In our 1-Week Online Film Camp for teens, students aged 14-17 receive an exciting introduction to the craft of storytelling through film. Staying true to our hands-on approach, as in all of the New York Film Academy filmmaking camps, students have the opportunity to write, direct, shoot and edit their own short project. ​Production exercises and projects are completed during a weekday evening, including the execution of the shooting plan and post-production​. The pace of this camp is feverish as each student completes a short film to be screened at the conclusion of the camp. No experience is required to attend.

Students also complete an assigned scene as well as a monologue on-camera directed by faculty, recorded by staff, and edited by our in-house editor. At the end of the program, students receive an edited digital copy of their work. For graduates, there will be a final screening for family and invited guests.

Offered in New York and Los Angeles during the summer, this acting for film camp challenges and inspires students aged 14-17 to develop their talent and build their confidence as actors. No experience is required to attend.

The New York Film Academy’s 1-Week Online Acting for Film Camp for teens was designed by our faculty of professional actors to immerse students in the specific craft of acting for film. Through in-class instruction and exercises with your smart devices, students receive ample experience in the principles of acting for film to establish a foundation as actors.
