A “zine” is a small homemade magazine that features original writing and collages to express specific interests and explore subjects. Students will learn about the history of zines in culture and produce their own; they’ll be able to write, interview one another, and design their own handmade publications, which will then be photocopied for them to distribute as they wish. Taught by an ECC English and Media Studies professor. (Ages 12 – 16)

Design your own board game! Throughout the week we will create a book of rules, develop board box packaging, design the game board, create the parts and pieces using clay and various other mixed media. By the end of the week, you will have a playable creativity-created board game

Learn the many techniques of hand-building with clay to make sculptures. We will work on a theme each day to create four creative projects. We will learn to coil, pinch, and slab build to create a sculpture from our imaginations. On the last day we will use colorful underglazes, slips, and cold finishes such as paint and mixed media to add color and finished pieces. Finished works will be available for pick up approximately 2 – 3 weeks after camp after. This is not a wheel throwing class.

Grab a camera and get ready to see the world through a brand new lens! Join Whitfield teacher Cara Foster in this hands-on camp! Young photographers will learn how to take control of a DSLR camera to snap amazing photos of the people, places, and little details that make up their everyday lives. You'll go beyond just clicking the shutter—campers will explore storytelling through images, play with composition, and learn cool tricks for editing photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Whether you're shooting portraits of your friends, capturing the colors of nature, or styling your own creative still lifes, this camp is all about experimenting, creating, and having fun in a welcoming and collaborative environment. No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and your eye for the unexpected.

For ages 12-17. Join us for a build-your-own jewelry workshop to create two unique pieces of clay jewelry. We will use pre-made polymer clay pieces and embellish them with brass and gem attachments. You will design your own custom earrings (clip-on attachments available) and/or pendant necklaces, that reflect your unique style. Gold and silver elements will be available.
