In an increasingly mobile world, major companies are growing globally. Business decisions and processes are influenced by global policies and regulations. This course aims to demonstrate the complexities of building a multinational organization and focuses on the challenges of cross-border commerce by competing interests in international policies and trade agreements. The course will also highlight visits to global business organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The world of medicine is complex and profound. This course will introduce students to the didactic rigors of biology, genetics, physiology, and anatomy as well as teaching them the applications of these topics in clinical research and global health. Students will explore these concepts with help from guests from and visits to places such as the Red Cross and PanHealth. This course is a survey of topics related to medicine, designed to help students understand the variety of areas that medicine touches and give them the information to decide if a career in medicine is right for them.

Washington, D.C. is the hub of U.S. national security, and many of its most influential spaces are steps from our campus. Through our location, students will witness the relationship between national security and policy making firsthand. This course will highlight the complexities of the U.S. national security agenda from the perspectives of the legislative, executive and judicial branches, and the impact of national security practices by the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and Pentagon agencies.

Studying at Yale gives students a newfound appreciation for their academics and offers an opportunity to forge friendships that will last a lifetime.

The week is designed for students who have completed 7th grade and are interested in training to be a Jr. Camp Counselor. CITs will receive guidance and feedback throughout this experience. After successfully completing this weeklong intensive camp, CITs will be eligible to volunteer for a two-week session at an agreed upon time. The two weeks of volunteer hours can be used for community service commitment hours. This training week will be led by New City Teacher Lauren McKenna.

In Summer College – On Campus, students navigate daily life much like a college student – they take a college-level course, live in a residence hall, have meals with friends in a dining hall, and participate in social activities and events on the Syracuse University campus.

For more than 60 years, Syracuse University has been providing exceptional and transformative pre-college experiences to high school students from around the world. Summer College – Online students have the unique opportunity to explore potential majors and pursue academic interests from the comfort of home – or from anywhere life takes them. Students participate in high-level instruction, have access to virtual campus offerings, and are welcomed into an engaging and supportive online community.

Summer College – Research Immersion Program (SCRIP) students work closely with research faculty on existing and new faculty led research projects both online and on campus. This highly selective program affords small cohorts of students the opportunity to gain college-level research experience. In some cases, this begins with the design of the assessment tool and in all cases, students are involved in the collection and analysis of data which culminates in a final presentation.

At Summer College – Hybrid, students can expand their knowledge in a 6-week hybrid course. You’ll live on the Syracuse University campus for two-weeks and then complete the final four weeks of your course online from the comfort of your own home – or wherever life takes you!

The Athena Summer Innovation Institute is an intensive, 3-week boot camp that provides students with the practical skills and knowledge they need to develop ideas that will make a difference in the world. Students will work in teams to create a new venture — start-up businesses, non-profit organizations, or advocacy campaigns — that have the power to disrupt traditional ways of doing things and create lasting change.

Excited to discover the intricacies of our world? This track encompasses a diverse range of courses in urban studies, sociology, gender studies, political Science and economics, offering a comprehensive view of global cultural, social, and political dynamics.

During the Leadership in Action series, you will work alongside members of the Athena Center for Leadership team every Tuesday and Wednesday to deepen and expand your communication and collaboration skills and explore your own leadership identity and story. Connecting with your peers in small group sessions, you will gain a broader understanding of what leadership means to you and experiment with different ways of telling your story.

For a truly immersive college experience, students who will be 16 years of age or older at the program’s start are eligible to reside on our Morningside Campus: a serene academic community where they will always be mere steps away from classrooms, libraries, amenities—and New York City.

Monday through Friday, students will join their virtual classrooms to refine their academic skills through a variety of activities—class discussions, debates, simulations, individual and group projects, Student Life workshops, and more.
