Campers learn more about Earth’s life systems as they consider how humans survive in space

In Mars Academy, teams of campers will find out if they have what it takes to survive on Mars! Activities and training will center around building a sustainable colony on Mars where campers will compete to earn various resources. Campers will be joined by a retired astronaut who will interact with campers during an activity. Campers will also receive a photo with the astronaut and their autograph.

Campers will work to successfully complete a mission to observe the Moon from Lunar orbit, mirroring the Apollo 8 and Artemis 2 missions. Activities include a focus on robotics and rocketry and will introduce campers to careers in the arts, communications, Education, IT, and STEM.

Creative Contraption Warning! This is a camp designed by you--the Inventor! Each day you'll be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from the world of famous inventors, and the most important thing of all--your mind. With a little bit of ingenuity, you'll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, construct a mini boat, and assemble a working light saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun!

Roll up your sleeves, put on your makers cap, and get ready to create! This is our most hands-on camp! Who can build the strongest bridge? Can your bridge withstand the shake rattle and roll challenge? Explore the world of birds and beasts. Discover what Hooty the owl had for dinner? Kids will dissect owl pellets and reconstruct Hooty’s dinner. Enter the Mad Science chemistry lab and mix, mash, and brew concoctions! Assemble and control pulleys, levers, catapults, simple machines, and megapinchers! Campers will discover the wonders of light and photography. It’s a week packed with non-stop science fun!

From the earliest flying machines to the first rocket flights, this week long, hands-on program will give children a bird's eye view of the history and science of flight. Your child will build many different flying devices and explore the science of aerodynamics and flight with the help of Newton's laws. We don't stop there, though, because we're heading out of the atmosphere with a look at rockets and our Galactic neighborhood!

Note: Your child will bring home a working model rocket. However, If your child would like to continue his/her interest in launching rockets outside of camp, you will need to purchase a launch kit online or from a hobby shop.

Embark on an around-the-world cultural adventure - explore far-off places and learn about the people who live there, from the Americas to the Ivory Coast, from the cosmopolitan to the countryside. Experiment with Crayola® products, while trying art techniques developed by local artists and artisans. Make a different masterpiece each day, including a dot art canvas, a mud art painting on fabric, and an imperial Russian egg! Bring the unique creations home and build a globally-inspired art gallery.

Pack your bags and grab your Passport! Campers will “travel” the world and learn about different cultures through art. Each week, kids will try their hand at new and imaginative art projects while receiving instruction in classic art forms and expanding their horizons into contemporary ones. Campers may visit the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre art galleries and occasionally take walks to the nearby park (weather permitting). These camps may also feature “plein air” or “open air” painting outside (weather permitting). Campers should wear clothes that they do not mind getting dirty or stained.

In this interactive German cooking class designed for kids, young chefs will embark on a culinary adventure through Germany. Students will learn traditional recipes like Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut, Spätzle, and Apfelstrudel. With hands on instruction kids will discoverer cooking techniques while developing an appreciation of German culture. The class fosters teamwork, creativity and culinary skills in a lively, supportive environment. Led by: Chef Margaret

Get ready for an exciting adventure in the great outdoors! In this daily exploration class, campers will become Adventure Rangers as they explore Forest Park daily to discover the wonders of nature and learn about the environment in a hands-on way. Each day will bring new challenges and discoveries, from identifying plants and animals to understanding ecosystems and conservation.

Curious about AI? Want to know how to use the technology and also protect yourself from false accusations or its abuse? During this camp we will learn both how to make images, songs, and video with AI and how to use it responsibly as a research and academic assistant. We'll learn their limitations and you'll get to be involved in demos of some premium paid tools without having to subscribe to them yourself. We will pay particular attention to using these tools responsibly, effectively, and ethically.

Broadcasting camp will introduce participants to the world of online streaming, social media and pod casting. Campers will learn the basics of camera operation, commentary and engineering using the production truck software and BlueFrame and/or YouTube sites. Interview and podcasting basics will also be introduced in the CSPN studios. Proper social media content, editing and posting will be an essential part of the lessons. All equipment will be provided to the campers. Camp instructors will include CSPN faculty as well as former and current Chaminade students.
