Biting at the bit to learn more about horses? This equine camp is for you!Become a vet for a week and learn all about the care and maintenance of a horse. Take an oath and use real medical tools to keep your newly adopted plush horse happy and healthy. After learning about horse anatomy,riding styles, and nutrition you can ride into the sunset with your diploma. Giddyup!

Step into the big leagues! Participants will discover the all-star team behind their favorite athletes! From physical therapists to nutritionists, get a peek at how the pros stay in top shape. Plus, learn how to treat common sports injuries and stay extra hydrated. We'll even delve into Tommy John Surgery!

Conquer the great outdoors! Camp participants will learn how to plan for an outdoor adventure, roleplay emergency situations in the wild, and prepare for natural disasters. These future emergency medics will learn about venomous snakes, hypothermia, wild animal encounters, poisonous plants, distress signals, forest fires, tornadoes, mosquito bites, and so much more!

This program is designed for individuals that are interested in learning more about how to be a camp counselor and working with kids in a pool environment.

The Ecclesiology course aims to explore the development of the People of Christ, beginning with the disciples at Pentecost and tracking through the major events and changes which led to the Church as the living Body of Christ today in the 21st Century. Through an engagement with the councils, schisms, and global dynamics which impacted the direction and make-up of the Church and its sacred nature, students will seek to understand the stance of today’s Church and explore Her relationship with the denominations, traditions, and other religions of the world.

Lifetime Activities is a one-semester summer course offered at De Smet Jesuit High School. It is designed to offer a higher level of ability and more instruction in a variety of individual and team activities. The curriculum provides various offerings to meet the individual needs of all students and to develop skill in a variety of activities. Examples of activities include volleyball, basketball, baseball, golf, walking, jogging, soccer, tennis, flag football, corn hole, frisbee golf, and slow pitch softball. Assigned reading and writing assignments that increase the physical education experience and contribute to the literacy of students will be included.

Grounded in both the Social Change Model of Leadership (SCML) and the Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement framework, this academy will provide you with content and context to support your understanding of the injustices and structural oppression perpetuating harm in our society. We will focus on the HOW: the intersecting and necessary ways to create social change through community-engaged research; community organizing and activism; direct service; decolonial philanthropy; advocacy for public policy; and social entrepreneurship for the common good. Through this exploration, you will develop a self-awareness of your own strengths and capacities for participation in work for social change. These two weeks will also provide you the opportunity to explore how your future college studies and careers can contribute to combating injustice and building peace.

In an increasingly mobile world, major companies are growing globally. Business decisions and processes are influenced by global policies and regulations. This course aims to demonstrate the complexities of building a multinational organization and focuses on the challenges of cross-border commerce by competing interests in international policies and trade agreements. The course will also highlight visits to global business organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The world of medicine is complex and profound. This course will introduce students to the didactic rigors of biology, genetics, physiology, and anatomy as well as teaching them the applications of these topics in clinical research and global health. Students will explore these concepts with help from guests from and visits to places such as the Red Cross and PanHealth. This course is a survey of topics related to medicine, designed to help students understand the variety of areas that medicine touches and give them the information to decide if a career in medicine is right for them.

Washington, D.C. is the hub of U.S. national security, and many of its most influential spaces are steps from our campus. Through our location, students will witness the relationship between national security and policy making firsthand. This course will highlight the complexities of the U.S. national security agenda from the perspectives of the legislative, executive and judicial branches, and the impact of national security practices by the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and Pentagon agencies.
