The Brown Environmental Leadership Lab (BELL) combines concepts in environmental studies, ecology and leadership, with a mission of developing socially responsible leaders. At BELL, you’ll embark on a journey of learning and reflection while building community with the fellow student environmentalists in your program.

The Business Institute is a summer experience at Wake Forest University that allows students to develop practical skills and the ability to think critically while gaining valuable exposure to important business topics and methods of analysis. Students will be exposed to the essential aspects of business needed to launch and run a company, including finance, human resources, management, marketing, technology, and operations. In addition to working alongside experienced faculty and collaborating in teams, this institute ends with a team presentation, in which students pitch ideas showcasing the knowledge they gained throughout the week.

The Wake Forest Summer Immersion Program Filmmaking Institute is an unforgettable experience for high school students. Do you have an interest in filmmaking? Are you passionate about storytelling? Do you love shooting vlogs and dream about creating the next great movie, Do you have an interest in filmmaking? Are you passionate about storytelling? Do you love shooting vlogs and dream about creating the next great movie, documentary, or television series? If so, then the Filmmaking Institute is for you. The Filmmaking Institute is a week-long program designed for high school students to gain an understanding of visual storytelling and the fundamentals of film production. Students will learn about various film forms, including documentary filmmaking and narrative storytelling. Students will create two short films by the end of the week.

Dive into the world of investments – stocks, bonds, and mutual funds/exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Explore popular investing approaches, techniques, and strategies to confidently learn how fundamental analysis plays a role in valuation. Meet and collaborate with Wake Forest School of Business faculty and industry experts to get a glimpse of finance and investing from the collegiate level to the professional world. Confidently pitch prospective investments, refine public speaking skills, and build your investment portfolio to capitalize on your future!

In this Institute, you’ll explore how to produce writing that will do things for you. Perhaps you want to learn how to craft a compelling college essay. Perhaps you want to write for a magazine someday. Perhaps you have a story to tell or an argument to make or information to share. This seminar will, to paraphrase the language philosopher J.L. Austin, teach you more about how to do things with words. We’ll talk with people who write for a living, who teach writing, and who use writing in their personal and professional lives. Like real writers, we’ll engage in the process of writing, from brainstorming to drafting and revising to final proofreading. Through participatory workshops and other hands-on practice, you’ll develop rhetorical and writing skills you’ll rely on in your academic, personal, and professional lives. By the end of the institute, you’ll have built a portfolio that showcases these newly honed writing and rhetorical skills.

Always wanted to be a doctor or pursue pre-med? Wake Forest’s online course is designed for high school students. You’ll get an inside look at how physicians manage patient care from ambulance to ER to aftercare. Teaching the course are Wake Forest School of Medicine professors Dr. Lindsay Strowd and Dr. Roy Strowd. Through immersive simulations, videos and course assignments, you’ll study the anatomy of the heart, what triggers a heart attack and how a treatment team works.
