In this course, students learn about how consumers and producers interact to form a market and then how and why the government may intervene in that market. Students deepen their understanding of basic microeconomic theory through class discussion and debate, problem solving, and written reflection.

This course investigates various topics in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics using a series of projects and problems that are both meaningful and relevant to the students’ lives. Students develop engineering skills, including design principles, modeling, and presentations, using a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects.

In this course, students learn financial responsibility and social consciousness. They examine a wide array of topics including personal budgeting, credit cards and credit scores, career and earning potential, insurance, real estate, financial investment, retirement savings, charitable giving, taxes, and other items related to personal finance.

Religion is one of the most salient forces in contemporary society but is also one of the most misunderstood. What exactly is religion? How does religious identity inform the ways humans understand themselves and the world around them? How can increased levels of religious literacy help us become more effective civic agents in the world today?

Each day as a Trotters camper includes science, art, maker space, drama, games, sports, and swimming! Swimming lessons are followed by recreational swim time. Themes foster learning and creativity. Parents are invited to a special event on the last day of each session. Special group requests are honored whenever possible. The theme for this session is The Enchanted Forest (There is no camp on June 19 or July 4).

YLI’s summer program is designed to empower young leaders to harness and develop the skills and confidence needed to make a positive impact in their community and prepare for the next steps in their education and beyond.

Integrated mathematics requires a strong foundation in the algebra and geometry concepts introduced in 8th grade. This course will provide a review of important math topics to help students build the necessary understanding to find success in Applied Integrated Mathematics 1 or Integrated Mathematics 1. Using an individualized approach, students will improve their algebra skills while exploring meaningful problems that require knowledge of many math concepts. The course will also help build problem-solving techniques in preparation for the type of work required in the 9th-grade courses.

This summer math course is designed to help build a strong foundational understanding of several middle school math topics. It will allow students the opportunity to review skills from previous courses and look ahead to concepts learned throughout their middle school math experience. Throughout the course, students engage in activities and problem-solving exercises that will encourage them to build confidence in their mathematical abilities! Please note that participation in the course does not lead to acceleration in the math program.
