The last thing any high schooler wants is to start their senior year trapped in a cycle of writing, revising, and rejecting one unsuccessful college essay after another. From picking a suitable topic to writing with purpose and then revising, we will move from not-even-started to ready-to-submit. If you’re the type of student who wants to cross the college essay off their To-Do List quickly and confidently, this class is for you.  Expect to meet formally on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday will be used for individual conference times.

Unlock the magic of storytelling and ignite a passion for reading and writing in your fifth-grade or sixth-grade students with a dynamic two-week summer course, “Exploring Literacy Through Graphic Novels.” This course is designed to harness the unique power of graphic novels to enhance language skills, critical thinking, and creativity. By the end of this course, students will emerge with improved reading comprehension skills, a heightened appreciation for storytelling, and the confidence to express their creativity through the captivating medium of graphic novels. Join Dr. Miller on a literary journey that blends words and images, fostering a love for reading and writing that will last a lifetime.

This camp will focus on the fundamental game of baseball. We will set a tempo to ensure each athlete has the opportunity to display their athleticism while learning and growing their knowledge and confidence in the game.

 The Super 60 Elite Basketball Camp is for Elite 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade boys looking to elevate their game to the next level. 

This portion of the Rise Above Missouri Football Camp is for students who are currently attending or will be attending MICDS in grades 6th to 12th in the 2023-24 school year. One of the primary purposes of this camp is to make sure next year’s team at the Varsity, JV, and both Middle School teams are actively preparing for the 2023 season at each of our respective areas. These camps are run by members of the 2023 MICDS Football Staff.

 Squash Camp is great for those who want to improve their technique or simply explore a new sport. The camp focuses on the introduction and reinforcement of the basics as well as strengthening abilities in advanced play. Typical days involve warm-ups, demos, match play, and instruction. Training includes grips and drops, swing mechanics, court movements, and more. Players of all playing abilities are welcome and will receive instruction tailored to their level.

Our High Performance Tennis Training Camp is designed for beginners to national players. The highest level of coaching is the key component of our tennis program. Our instructors have taught all levels of tennis from beginner to professional. On the first day of camp we access and start the process for developing an individual tennis plan for each student; but what makes us different is our training system. In the MAC gym at MICDS we have put together 20 plus individual tennis training stations. This allows our campers to hyper focus on learning and perfecting their tennis skills and at the same time have FUN in a challenging environment. 

This will be an all-skills camp for kids in grade school that are interested in getting better at volleyball. This camp will be run by David Owens, Head Volleyball Coach at MICDS, and his coaching staff.

In this course, students build an understanding of and apply skills in various aspects of architectural design. While gaining key insights into the roles of architectural analysis, materials, 3D design, and spatial awareness, students develop proficiency in architectural visual communication.

In this course, students practice designing and developing games through hands-on work. Through the creation of small “toys,” the course asks students to solve problems and create content, building the design and technical skills necessary to build their own games.

This intensive summer course is designed to provide an accelerated path through the traditional high school geometry curriculum. Focusing on Euclidian geometry, students examine topics relating to parallel lines, similar and congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, and circles.

Inspired by GOA’s popular Medical Problem Solving series, this course uses a case-based approach to give students a practical look into the professional lives of lawyers and legal thinking. By studying and debating a series of real legal cases, students sharpen their ability to think like lawyers who research, write, and speak persuasively.

This course is a prerequisite to Investing II at GOA. In this course, students simulate the work of investors by working with the tools, theories, and decision-making practices that define smart investment. Students explore concepts in finance and apply them to investment decisions in three primary contexts: portfolio management, venture capital, and social investing.

This course investigates various topics in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics using a series of projects and problems that are both meaningful and relevant to the students’ lives. Students develop engineering skills, including design principles, modeling, and presentations, using a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects.
