Come and spend some time outdoors with New City teachers, Tommi and Marti Jo. We will spend most of our day outside exploring the grounds at New City School. We will play games, go on scavenger hunts, and learn about birds, plants, insects, and trees. There will be time for art exploration, music and movement, stories, as well as learning to be good friends and stewards of the earth. Let the wonder, curiosity, and creativity surrounding Nature begin! Campers can attend one or both weeks of this exciting Specialty Camp.

Creative discovery is what it’s all about as the arts disciplines blend together in this exciting camp. Campers enjoy fun-filled days exploring drama, visual art, creative movement, and music with professional teaching artists. Children share highlights of their week each Friday afternoon for family and friends. Creative Arts Camp is a great place for your camper to make new friends, build self-confidence, and nurture their imagination!

In this fun STEAM course, students develop 2-D multi-level classic games as they learn and apply coding fundamentals to their game projects. Additionally, students learn game design concepts as they create, design, and code their own versions of Pac-Man, Galaxy Cat, Tic Tac, Toe, and creative side-scrolling video games!

C’mon Barbie, let’s go party! Adventures await in our very own New City Barbie Dreamland—a world filled with pink hues, glittering sparkles, and endless possibilities. This immersive camp celebrates creativity, friendship, self-expression, and the joy of play. Campers will grow their imagination, share laughs, and gain endless Barbie-inspired memories. From designing their own Barbies to Building a Barbie Dream house, campers are guaranteed to make their dreams come to life in the world of Barbie—it’s fantastic! Barbie said it best herself, “You can be Anything”! This camp is led by New City teacher Paije Croghan.

Travel through the wonderful world of children’s books. Get excited about books through art, imagination stations, games, crafts, music, singing, and movement! We’ll be true bookworms in the Garden with activities both outside, inside and in our wonderful NCS library. 4/5s and KDG campers will take a trip to the library for storytelling and ice cream. We’ll try some yummy recipes to munch on while we read and relax. The theme will change each week of this 3-week session. Who knows where our imaginations will take us!

Exploreres become Dreamers who become confident creative thinkers. A week long studio art expereince with an emphasis on encouragement and the utilization of a authentic studio art materials and tools. During the week we will utilize wire, clay, found objects, while exploring the three-dimensional sculptural building process.

Build a boat and develop the design that will enable it to stay afloat. Expereiment with various materials to get the best results. The ideas are endless! Who will win the grand prize for best design and buoyancy?

Hey New City parents, give your rising 6th Grader a head start on practicing for the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) that they will take next year! New City 5th & 6th Grade teachers Jill Speckert and Denise Willis will lead this one-week camp to help students prepare for the test through challenges and exercises, as well as taking some time for summer fun with walking day trips and other activities. C

Let’s go on an adventure across the North American continent to explore multi-cultural cuisine. What better way to spend a week this summer in a fun, exciting class learning how to cook delicious meals? In our state-of-the-art kitchen, young chefs will enjoy lots of culinary action and tasty delights of Indigenous and Spanish cuisine. This camp will help you learn about measuring ingredients, how to follow a recipe, gardening and harvesting, and how to make healthy choices in food preparation. Every recipe is a creation and every creation an adventure! Chef Margaret Grant will guide you through this culinary experience. Any allergies or dietary restrictions will be taken into account for every recipe used, ensuring that the experience is healthy and fun for all!

In our other most popular course for this age group, campers play and create together on a safe, secure Minecraft realm in the digital sandbox that is Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and join from their iPads. Campers will create custom themed mazes, themed droppers and reverse droppers to fly through, and build mazes as they learn basic redstone and code and much more! This class o“ers huge thrills AND education alike as students explore their inner Michaelangelo in a STEAM format perfect for Minecraft lovers and can finally do so from any type of device!!

Campers explore the world of Arduino circuits, robotics, and code! This class is incredible for the hands-on tinkerers and engineers of tomorrow who love to figure out how things work and build exciting robotics projects. If your kid ever loved Legos, they will love this class! We also focus on the code - as campers code their Creator Bot Robots through fun challenges and as they wire and code their Arduinos to control motors, lights, sensors and more! Campers also lead their bots through fun challenges.
