The School of Science and Engineering STEM Immersion Camp is designed to provide underrepresented students an understanding of STEM fields and education opportunities, practical college readiness information (including application and financial aid information), and opportunities to engage with industry leaders and role models to learn about various STEM career paths. The camp is designed specifically for students seeking to learn more about opportunities in STEM and college readiness. The Saint Louis University Engineering Summer Academy is a six-day, five-night residential camp where rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can learn about the varying fields and career paths in engineering. Faculty and student mentors guide academy participants through hands-on activities in aerospace and mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer and electrical engineering, and civil engineering. Academy participants also attend off-campus excursions into the engineering industry, hear from guest speakers working in the field and explore Saint Louis University. The Saint Louis University Aviation Summer Academy invites students entering grades 11 and 12 to learn more about different areas of study and career paths in aviation. The program is a six-day, five-night residential camp. During the academy, faculty, certified flight instructors and student mentors guide participants through hands-on activities in subjects that include flight science, aviation management, aerial navigation, aircraft design, unmanned aerial vehicles and air-traffic control. Academy participants also take flights in Saint Louis University airplanes with our certified flight instructors, participate in off-campus field trips and explore SLU’s campus. Saint Louis University’s Gardens to Tables Culinary Camp is a week-long program engaging campers in gardening, cooking and nutrition activities. Campers prepare a variety of meals and work with professional chefs, registered dietitians, and master gardeners to learn principles of good nutrition, gardening and a healthy lifestyle. Six of the camps are designed for children entering 2nd-6th grades with a special Teen’s Only Week (June 24-28) and an exciting Junior-Chef Week for children entering Kindergarten-3rd grade (July 8-12).
