Students will learn techniques for doing basic outdoor digital photography. A portion of the class will be hands-on photography along with some very basic editing done on photos taken that day. It will be best if the student has a hand-held camera that has a removable SD memory card. There will be outdoor activity, weather permitting, students will visit tall grass prairie plots on ECC campus to photograph landscapes, flowers, grasses, and insects. The class will happen rain or shine, unless it is pouring rain, a light jacket or poncho might be needed. Shoes may get muddy or wet. (Ages 10-18)

This session combines robotics and reading to create a dynamic, hands-on learning experience for students. Participants will explore coding concepts using XRP robotics, building foundational skills as they design, program, and test their own robotic creations. Through a series of engaging challenges, students will collaborate to problem-solve, think critically, and iterate on their designs. High school mentors from the Collegiate LEGO Robotics team will partner with students throughout the session, offering guidance in both coding and engineering while modeling perseverance and teamwork.

Shine Your Light workshop will ask our girls to work on their most important build project of all: themselves. Through mindful movement, reflective and creative reading and writing, and engaging circuitry and woodworking projects, girls will enhance their confidence and self-esteem. Girls will craft light-up wands, breadboard circuits, wiring, LEDs and more. This is a fantastic workshop for someone new to LitShop.

Are you interested in the world of architecture as a potential career field? Join us for the second in a sequence of five courses for youth who want to dive deeper into architecture. In collaboration with LNB Studio, Principles of Architecture will teach participants how architects think, design, and build through hands-on projects, models, and materials exploration. Participants will explore design concepts such as space and forms, planning, materials and sustainability, all under the expert guidance of working professionals from across the field.

For kids preparing for a confident start to kindergarten (ages 4 & 5), these weeklong (Mon–Fri) sessions are led by a speech language pathologist and OT from our team and focus on developing group skills (winning/losing, social pragmatics, etc.), fine motor skills (writing, cutting, etc.), attention skills, and other readiness skills.

When kids struggle with speech or language, they can benefit from other paths of communication besides talking, like the use of augmentative communication. Led by a speech language pathologist from our team, this group will use our augmentative communication device for play and self expression in a fun small group atmosphere.

Engaging with nature has been shown to strengthen the connection between a child and their body in ways that are hard to replicate indoors. Led by two OTs from our team who will focus on building up motor skills, balance, and flexibility and promoting cognitive development, self-confidence, and self regulation, these fun outdoor sessions are designed for preschoolers (ages 4.5–6).
