Students learn the basics of observational and environmental sketching both indoors and outdoors—working with still-life and natural settings. They work in pencil, pen, ink, and brush to develop their drawing skills of natural elements outdoors. Then, they explore natural color, highlight, and shadow as they paint using acrylic and watercolor from observation. Plein-Air Drawing & Painting Basics concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

From Mulan to Raya and Merida to Moana, princesses these days are no delicate flowers—today’s princesses are strong and smart. We explore these and other brave princess stories from around the world, create our own power princess characters, and weave them together to create a forceful tale. We train in an obstacle course and build our own weapons, costume pieces, and other props. Princess Power concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. Discover the many varieties of 3D art. Working individually and in small groups, campers explore clay, paper maché, tape, wire, and even 3D textiles as a sculptural medium. They imagine, design and build their own structures. We practice both additive and subtractive techniques for creating 3D art and create both individual and collaborative pieces. Sculpts & Molds concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Learn about the set design process by reading Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical JR. and creating ideas for props and backdrops. We look at images of set designs from a variety of styles, practice building renderings and illustration, and learn to paint and build sets. Props and sets will appear in COCA's production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical JR.

We pretend we are sleuths solving a COCA mystery. Then, we turn the tables as we craft and stage our own secret agent story. Storytelling Magic concludes with campers bringing home the work they created. Campers are expected to be fully toilet trained and use the toilet independently. There is nothing like an upbeat summer song to celebrate the long sunny days! We enjoy a range of summer songs, such as "Better When I'm Dancin'" and Moana's "You're Welcome," and create accessories to augment our singing. Along the way, we work on musicality, rhythm, breath support, articulation, tone, and performance skills, such as posture and vocal expression. Summer Singing concludes with an in-person sharing with family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp.

You imagine your own student, professor, and fantastical creature characters to populate an imaginary wizard school. You create wands and potions—then share your tribute to the world of magic for the final day of camp. The Sorting Hat concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. Campers explore superheroes with secret identities like Wonder Woman, Black Panther, Blue Beetle, and Frozone. We then use these famous characters as inspiration to create superheroes, supervillains, and secret identities of our own. We create gadgets and disguises, go on a secret mission, and create a final story. Where's My Supersuit concludes with families receiving a link to their camper's work the following week of camp. Features multiple professional teaching artists to present a variety of arts disciplines.

Campers are introduced to improvisation, prompts, characters, and theatre games designed to create "on the spot" scenes and stories. Through the games and scene work, students learn skills, such as being present and aware on stage, listening to fellow actors, and working collaboratively while creating unique (and often hilarious) characters, situations, and scenes. The COCA Improv Project concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp.

Explore this form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into something new—altering both its appearance and meaning. Cut, tear, glue, fold, paint, add texts and drawings, rebind, create pop-ups, rubber-stamps, drill, and bolt. Add pockets and niches to hold objects. The only limit is your imagination! Altered Books concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Beginner level dancers explore some of the world's best loved ballets using dance steps and art. Learn to dance to classical ballet music, such as Coppélia, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty, as you focus on technique. Get inspired and create art projects and props. Students should attend with ballet shoes. Ballet Fundamentals concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. No additional dress code, and no previous experience required.

Create garden art that dance in the wind—from spinners and whirligigs to wind chimes and wheels—in this STEAM camp. We twist, sculpt, bead, and paint using a range of mediums to create every imaginable style of outdoor kinetic art, from the beautiful and meditative to the whimsical, and try them all out in COCA's outdoor spaces. Blowin' in the Wind concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

We explore the fun and creativity in making delicious breakfast items from waffles and muffins to quiche, as we share our own favorite sweet and savory breakfast combinations. We decorate aprons and learn to safely cut and chop while practicing basic kitchen safety. Information about food restrictions or allergies must be provided to COCA during the registration process or by contacting the Registration Office by email at least two weeks prior to camp. Campers should have their hair pulled back. All culinary supplies and groceries included in price.
