Why do our fingers get wrinkled in water? Is water wet? How much water is used to flush a toilet? These are a few questions we may not answer during Super Soaked, but we’ll definitely have fun during our water activities! Campers will get to swim in the lake and pool, go boating, play water games, and engage in worship and Bible studies (not in the water). Bring your bathing suits and prepare to get Super Soaked!

Summer Scholars participants spend two intensive weeks on Notre Dame's campus taking a challenging college-level course taught by Notre Dame faculty. We keep the classes small and the personal attention from Notre Dame faculty high. The coursework is a true preview of college academics—it is both rigorous and rewarding, and students could earn one transferable college credit upon the completion of a program track. Students collaborate on coursework outside designated class times as they would in any college setting. There is also ample time to enjoy the social facets of college life, especially those unique to Notre Dame.

Wharton Data Science Academy (WDS), launched in 2020, is an intensive pre-college program designed for curious, high-achieving students from around the world. The curriculum mirrors the rigor of upper-level Wharton undergraduate courses, while being taught in a way that is accessible to motivated high school learners. We start from the foundations, including data wrangling and visualization, fundamental probability and statistics (distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing), and core modeling (simple/multiple regression, classification, model assessment). From there, we build steadily toward modern machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). The curriculum has been evolving; we update modules with state-of-the-art topics such as neural networks and large language models (LLMs). Throughout, we emphasize not only technical skills, but also the responsible use of data, attention to bias and fairness, and the ability to communicate results clearly Coursework is hands-on, using R as the primary language, with selective use of Python (e.g., Colab) for deep learning and LLM.

Taught by Professor Adi Wyner, the Moneyball Academy teaches students how to apply advanced statistical concepts to sports analytics—beyond what’s typically covered in AP Statistics. The curriculum draws from several Wharton courses (STAT 101, 470, and more) and includes hands-on coding in R, the programming language used by professional statisticians. Students will learn to conduct the types of analyses featured in outlets like FiveThirtyEight and Fangraphs. Students collaborate on a final data analytics project, with the chance to be published in the Wharton Sports Analytics Journal. The program also features guest speakers from the world of professional sports, such as executives and data scientists from the Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Lakers, and Philadelphia Eagles. This program is ideal for students with a strong background in math and a love of sports. An interest in computer programming is strongly recommended but no specific background is necessary.
