COCA theatre artists guide performers through all the steps of acting in a theatre production. We develop an understanding of character development and relationships through acting games and lessons. Then, we memorize short scenes, build simple props, and polish our performance skills. Act Up concludes with an in-person production for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. Campers learn the fundamentals of drawing the popular anime style used in My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. They learn how to draw facial expressions, hands, fabric folds, and forms while developing their own characters and stories. They learn to develop stories in narrative panels and ink their images. The camp ends with images to frame or put together in a story to form a comic book. Anime Basics concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Adventurous artists use splatter techniques, water balloon explosions, spin art, and paint-tinted bubble mix to create fabulous creative images in the spirit of artist Jackson Pollock. They explore the expressive potential in high-energy art through a variety of mediums as they discover their own creative voice. Art Explosion concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Learn rhythm, musicality, spacing, and basic musical theatre dance steps in this dance camp for children who love Disney musicals. We dance to favorites from musicals, such as Mary Poppins and Moana, and explore "a whole new world" of dance. We share our dances with family and friends on the final day of camp. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo concludes with an in-person performance with family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. No previous experience or dancewear required.

Run away and join the circus! in this 2-week camp, explore songs from musicals with circus themes like The Greatest Showman and Pippin. Campers sing, dance, and act as they tell these carnival-themed stories. Choreography also features circus skills that we explore in our camp day, such as juggling, plate spinning, rolling globes, tumbling, and more! Broadway Big Top concludes with an in-person performance for family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. Campers should wear shorts or shorts under skirts or dresses. Campers uncover the range of comic book genres as we design original cartoon characters and place them in our own comic strips. We learn how to strengthen our drawing skills as we work on facial expressions and poses. We develop crazy critters and magnificent monsters, supervillains, and heroes. Then, we pull them together in stories to create our own comic strips and books. Cartooning Character Creations concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Athletic, high-energy campers enjoy practicing circus, trampoline, and aerial work. They explore stilt walking, rola bola, rolling globe, tightrope walking, juggling, spinning plates, balancing peacock feathers, diablo, flower sticks, and clowning skills before selecting a skill (or two) to master during the week. Circus COCA concludes with an in-person circus extravaganza to share with family and friends during the final 20 minutes of camp. Campers should wear shorts or shorts under skirts or dresses.

Calling all future tightrope walkers, lion tamers, and acrobats—come run away to the circus with us! Campers enjoy tumbling, balancing, and learning circus skills like ring juggling and feather balancing. This circus-themed camp combines the exploration of those skills with fun, themed visual arts activities like masks and great children's books like Olivia Saves the Circus. Circus Stars concludes with campers bringing home the work they created. Campers are expected to be fully toilet trained and use the toilet independently. Features multiple professional teaching artists to present a variety of arts disciplines.

Working in teams, campers write a short scene, create a corresponding storyboard, and build clay characters and environments. Then, using the magic of stop motion animation, they bring it all to life by moving their clay in small movements and taking so many pictures that they look like they are moving. Claymation Basics concludes with families receiving a digital link to their camper's work sent the week following camp. Art and technology supplies and equipment use included in price.

Fashion forward campers get inspired by some of the world's leading designers as they learn about the fashion design process from design concept to creating our own fashion lines. We create the idea boards for a whole line of fashion as we practice rendering and illustration, learn basic machine and hand sewing techniques, and build a simple garment from those ideas/designs. The possibilities are endless in this exciting introduction to fashion camp. COCA Couture concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.

Campers delve into a range of comic book/graphic novel storytelling methods, including autobiographical, straight fiction, manga, superhero, and crime. From scriptwriting and storyboarding to penciling and inking in every style imaginable, we explore how artists’ creative choices affect the way the story is understood while working on the technical skills of drawing comic panels. Comic Books & Graphic Novels concludes with campers bringing home work they created.

Cosplay is the creation of costumes and accessories to reflect a manga or anime character in fully realized form—including fantasy makeup. We focus on makeup and hair design techniques in Cosplay Makeup, using each other and our own faces as a canvas for fantastical creations. Cosplay Makeup concludes with families receiving a digital link to their camper's creations sent the week following camp.

Future songwriters work with a professional songwriter/musician to create lyrics and melodies that express their ideas. They select accompaniment on the piano or guitar and can even choose to have other campers sing back-up vocals. They rehearse our collective and individually composed songs and then take a field trip to record them at Clayton Studios. They also work on graphics associated with our songs and style. Demo Creations concludes with families receiving a digital link of their camper's work sent the week following camp. Price includes field trip and studio use.

Learn the science of making dough and the different types of dough that make the tasty foods we eat. Campers discover how to make pizzas, bread, cookies, and more while practicing basic culinary skills. Information about food restrictions or allergies must be provided to COCA during the registration process or by contacting the Registration Office by email at least two weeks prior to camp. Campers must adhere to kitchen safety rules. Campers should have their hair pulled back. All culinary supplies and groceries included in price.
