Smart devices are everywhere these days. In this class you will learn how to “train” a smart motor using machine learning also known as Artificial Intelligence, AI. Once you have trained your motor and sensor you will create your own smart device that can act as a prop in a movie that you make, be a solution to a real life problem, or even become a robot. This class involves new technology through an NSF grant in partnership with Tufts University.

In the STEM INNOVATOR Course students will participate in the following two activities. Lunch is included with the cost of registration along with exposure to Maryville's campus and college experiences. Virtual Reality ~ Explore the advancing technology of Augmented and Virtual Reality using Quest 2 Headsets and create virtual worlds of their own through. Students can build their own 3D creations, animate them with code, and share them with friends and family in a virtual space. Virtual and Augmented reality has given us the ability to travel the world, discover underwater life, explore space, and even operate on cadavers, all from the comfort of a classroom or our own homes. Robotics ~ Challenge your own creative and collaborative robotic problem solving skills with this course. Build robots with LEGO’s new SPIKE Prime kits that can accomplish a variety of tasks. Each day will bring a new engineering challenge which students will learn how to solve. Engineers will build a robot to solve that challenge and then program it to do their will! What will you create? Wearable technology, a room alarm, a dancing robot, a personal robot assistant? The possibilities are endless! We will assist and guide you as you work through the Engineering Design Process on your mission. The world is waiting for you to reveal your robotic engineering creations this summer!
