Nursing Camp, facilitated by Auburn University School of Nursing (AUSON) and Auburn Youth Programs (AYP), is an engaging one-week summer program available for high school students interested in careers in nursing. Camp participants “learn by doing” and practice technical skills as they rotate through interactive learning stations led by undergraduate nursing students in the school’s labs and simulation center. Faculty use case studies and simulation scenarios to bring healthcare specializations like emergency medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and home health to life as the teens provide care for simulated patients throughout the week. The week includes team competitions, learning opportunities with community healthcare professionals, and discussion of educational pathways to nursing.

This summer, spend one week immersed in the fast-paced, challenging, and rapidly evolving world of nursing. Our Nursing Academy offers an introduction to the nursing field, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of the profession along with a variety of career paths and specializations, such as adult-gerontology, acute care, family practice, anesthesia, and women's health. You’ll also examine topics ranging from ethics and cultural competencies to biological, physical, and social sciences. Throughout the program, you’ll engage in faculty-led instruction and hands-on clinical experiences using a lifelike patient simulator at Georgetown’s O’Neill Family Foundation Clinical Simulation Center.

For the past 30 years, Clemson University has offered a summer enrichment program for gifted middle and high school students. In addition to challenging courses, we provide opportunities for fun, friendship and a Clemson experience. This year’s program has even more to offer with new classes available for all students. A balanced schedule of educational, recreational and cultural activities will help broaden your academic skills and develop your creative abilities. You’ll take exciting classes during the day while your evening and weekend activities may include nature study hikes, small group discussions with Clemson faculty, and career and educational guidance. In addition, you’ll enjoy movies, tennis, swimming, racquetball and trips to University laboratories, the John C. Calhoun House, the S.C. Botanical Garden, the Hanover House and the Clemson Forest. You’ll use University materials and equipment to conduct your scientific investigations. You’ll live in a semiprivate room in a campus dormitory and eat in a University dining hall. Qualified counselors will supervise dormitory life and all activities. You’ll have complete access to area medical facilities, including the University health center. If you’re an advanced high school student, the two-week classes provide a great opportunity to delve deeply into specialized topics.
