Leadership Seminars is a competitive, for-credit, 10-day program on Notre Dame's campus for academically talented students who show impressive leadership within their communities. Tuition, housing, and meals for students admitted to Leadership Seminars will be paid for by the University. The COVID-19 global pandemic impacted not only our health, but our wealth. In March of 2020, many retirement accounts dropped by more than 30%, businesses were closed, and jobs were eliminated. As the situation unfolded, it became abundantly clear that the most financially vulnerable members of our community endured the greatest suffering. While we haven’t quite emerged from this historic event, the recession and subsequent economic recovery have provided us with a topical case study for thinking about the role and goals of personal finance. This leadership seminar will help participants craft a lifelong financial plan. Topics include investing inside and outside retirement accounts, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and tax considerations. The goal is to ensure your financial security, so you can select the career of your choice, help those in need, and support important social causes.
