Students engage in a STEM activity, a SEL topic and mentoring monthly for a 5-hour session at their respective community site location. STEM topics include Forensic science, GIS, Civil Engineering, Aerospace engineering, Cosmetic Science, Astronomy, and Agriculture Technology. SEL topics include emotions management, mental health, boundary setting, self-esteem and social media awareness. Black Girls Do STEM is a 100% free community-based program for 6th-12th grade Black girls the trigger an increased curiosity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through deliberate education, access and opportunity. This includes a hands-on STEM Saturday Academy for middle schoolers through 9th grade, a variety of field trips and support programming including math and science tutoring, ACT prep, post-secondary planning, workforce development program access and college and industry tours.
