Morning Session 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM Have fun, get messy, and make art! In this five-day class, students will learn how to give a second life to everyday objects around them by creating fabulous artwork! Artist Celeste Grayer will lead students through a series of mixed media painting, drawing, and 3D art projects using acrylic paints, drawing tools, card-board, mosaic techniques, and a variety of recyclable items. Lunch Break 11:45 - 12:15 Batik and Animal Illustration with Jill Kuanfung Afternoon Session 12:15 PM - 2:00 PM Do you love critters? This week we'll learn to draw and watercolor animals. We'll learn to see the shapes of different animals' bodies and faces so that drawing our favorite creatures doesn't seem so scary or impossible. After we get comfortable with our illustrations, we'll learn a special technique called batik (bah-teek), where we'll paint melted wax onto fabric. We'll put our wax-painted fabric in a colorful dye bath to complete the process. At the end of this week, we'll have a colorful illustration on dyed fabric, plus a wax print of our illustration.
