Midwest Children's Burn Camp (MCBC) is a program of Burns Recovered and is for campers ages 6 to 17 who have sustained burn injuries including smoke inhalation. MCBC is free of charge! At MCBC campers enjoy activities including high and low ropes courses, canoeing, archery, horseback riding, arts & crafts and dancing! MCBC offers a safe and supportive environment where young burn survivors spend a week with others who have also experienced the trauma of burn and smoke inhalation injuries. Burn Camp provides campers with life-long friends to share their journeys with as they get back to living. At Burn Camp, campers learn they are not defined by their "wrapping paper". Emphasis focuses on the beautiful person on the inside, not the scars on the outside. MCBC is provided at no cost to our campers and families through generous donations from the community. MCBC takes place at Camp Taum Sauk in Lesterville, MO. All of our Counselors are Volunteers and come from a variety of professions, including health care and First Responders. Many of our Volunteers are burn survivors themselves. All of our volunteers are background checked and trained before the start of camp.
In order to attend sessions you must go to the program's website, register, and pay any required fees; adding them here does not register you for the session.
