Boys Camp

Sherwood Forest is an 86-year-old nonprofit that is a year-round youth development organization with programs uniquely anchored in a residential camp experience. Our residential program consists of traditional camp activities like canoeing and tie-dye, as well as reading, ecology, and social and emotional learning. 1st and 2nd graders attend a 7-day program, 3rd-5th graders attend a 14-day program, and 6th-9th graders attend a 29-day program. 80% of our spaces are reserved for kids who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. We provide transportation to/from St. Louis on the first and last day of the session. We also provide sheets, sleeping bags, hiking equipment, food, sunscreen, etc. If we find that a child doesn't have something they need while at camp (like a swimsuit or extra socks) we will provide it! We also have a nurse and a "camper care" team to help with any physical, social or emotional health needs a child may have. We typically ask families to pay something ($0-$75) for their child’s camp experience, but the fee is only to make sure the child will show up at the bus stop. If a family cannot pay anything, we are still happy to have them at camp! We have almost 500 acres of beautiful woodland property, which includes a pool, lake, hiking trails, a beautiful dining hall, four villages with indoor plumbing and or shower houses with individual stalls. We also have a year-round Wellness Health Specialist who holds their Masters In Social Work (MSW), who works to support campers and staff during the summer. Additionally, we have an air-conditioned library with over 5k titles, a STEM lab, outdoor theatre, 45ft climbing tower, low ropes course, basketball court, 9 square and most importantly, we have GREAT camp food with dessert every night!
