GRC’s Advanced Space Academy (Completing Grades 6-8)
Return to the Moon: Outposts & Orbiting
Join the GRC cislunar orbital outpost ‘mission’! How will you build an orbiting habitat? Consider power, propulsion, logistics, and other technical and mission capabilities. Find a lunar landing site for probe missions, and experiment with engineering and geological phenomena. Can we beat the SpaceX/Boeing companies or work with other countries to capture the flag in space? Experiment with robotic engineering using LEGO® Mindstorms® EV3 materials, then move your rovers according to mapped coordinates. Design, build and launch rockets.
Choose from six great Summer Academies at Gifted Resource Council. Academy Americana will explore Early 20th Century, while Ancient Academy re-visits the Middle Ages. ECO Academy entrepreneurs create and run an environmentally friendly business. GRC's Space Academy cadets launch their own rockets and explore the significance of robotics as they study space. Jr. Science Searchers and Math, Marvels & More students delve into oceans, rainforests, math, science and creative expression. Extraordinary teachers, field trips, experiments, simulations, and a fantastic physical activity component make it an unforgettable summer. Three two-week, full-day sessions are offered for students completing kindergarten through 8th grade. Participants may attend 2, 4 or all 6 weeks. Before/After Care available.
In order to attend sessions you must go to the program's website, register, and pay any required fees; adding them here does not register you for the session.
