The Shepherding Sheep – Servant Event Program at Camp Wartburg is a great experience designed to get campers with disabilities outdoors and in an environment of interaction with other individuals. Camp Wartburg’s camper to counselor ratio is one-to-one or one-to-two staff/volunteers per camper. Camp Wartburg is a wonderful experience that enables the campers to be themselves, enjoy the outdoors, and participate in fun activities. There is focused attention on the camper, which makes them feel special for the time they are at Camp. Campers must be able to: 1. Feed themselves (with assistance needed for food prep at a minimum). 2. Bathe themselves with minimal assistance. 3. Spend the night in a cabin with other campers and staff. 4. Get around independently; however, Camp can accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices. (Campers spend the majority of their time at Camp walking – please consider this before applying.) 5. Get along well with others. Hitting of other campers is not tolerated. 6. Take their medications with minimal assistance. Crushing of meds is provided if needed.
