Since the beginning of skateboarding, the idea of a custom deck has always been desirable. Students look at a range of contemporary artists, such as KAWS, Nick Walker, and Haroshi who create skateboard art, and the various influences of graphic design, pop culture, and graffiti. They explore mediums, including spray paint, acrylic, and print, before creating their own deck design on a skateboard they can use to either hang on a wall or ride. Deck Design concludes with campers bringing home the work they created.
Campers, ages 3–18, have the opportunity to learn and experience new things, build their skills, and—most importantly—have fun. At COCA, we pride ourselves on offering some of the most creative Summer Arts Camps for kids and teens.
Summer Arts Camps are offered at our campus in University City and at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) in the Central West End.
Camps start the day after Memorial Day and run through August 15, providing families with 12 weeks of summer arts opportunities. Before and after care is offered for ages 5+. Sliding Scale Tuition is available for qualifying students.
