Join us for a Woodpecker Walk at the Douglas-Hart Nature Center! Girl Scouts will learn about native woodpeckers through an engaging lesson and a hands-on craft, where you'll discover fascinating facts about their behavior, habitat, and role in the ecosystem. After the lesson, we'll hike through their natural habitat, keeping our eyes and ears open for woodpeckers and other native birds. This event also counts toward points on our Winter Challenge checklist! It's a great opportunity to connect with nature, have fun, and learn about local wildlife. The Woodpecker Walk is part of our Winter Challenge, a three-month patch program from January to March. Throughout this time, Girl Scouts earn points by participating in various activities like this hike, celebrating World Thinking Day, and engaging in other council-led events. The goal is to earn enough points to receive their Winter Challenge patch.
