The Missouri State #BearsTeach initiative looks to recruit students interested in the teaching profession to address the teacher shortage in Missouri. The program takes freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from the school districts around the state of Missouri and invites them to attend a summer immersion program on the campus of Missouri State University. #BearsTeach program aims to recruit students into teacher preparation programs and prepare students academically and socially for college life. Student activities include staying in one of our residence halls and eating at one of our fine dining halls and participating in ACT Boot Camp. Students will also engage in mini-workshops on identifying potential scholarships, writing admission and scholarship essays, campus social activities, financial aid, and student support systems available through MSU. Participants will also enjoy swimming in the lazy river or rock climbing in the Foster Rec Center, exploring the Springfield area by attending a Springfield Cardinals game, going to a “destination” restaurant, and other events.
