Brown Leadership Institute - Leadership and Social Justice (Residential)

This course is designed to help you more fully understand what social change is, the history behind different former and current social change movements, and the ways in which social change can happen on individual, institutional and structural levels. In this course, you will analyze various social change movements to understand better how these approaches to change have been implemented and the strengths and weaknesses of each. You will also consider the different ways to engage in social change work, including direct service, community organizing, and legal advocacy, through an intersectional lens grounded in social justice theory. You will then utilize the knowledge gained from the course to develop an Action Plan to guide the work that you plan on starting or continuing in their home communities
