Intro to Stage Combat for Theater

Have you ever watched a play or a movie and wonder how all of those realistic fights were achieved? Well, wonder no more! Spend some time this summer with Dr. Alicia Jay, assistant professor of theater and a certified theatrical fight choreographer, who will lead you into the exciting world of stage combat. Beginning with basic safety, Dr. Jay will work with students to develop skills and learn effective and convincing combat techniques that will take your next stage fight from boring to awesome! This course is designed to also accentuate the relationship between acting and stage combat, as Dr. Jay will work with students to incorporate the fights into scenes which will be performed at the end of the summer experience!
