The program introduces students to the Amiri Writing Cycle (AWC). Students learn about how to master producing different essay types as well as learn key writing skills from sentence structure to punctuation. All student essays are scored on a customized rubric which assesses student performance in key essay-writing areas and allows students to focus on areas where development is actually needed.
