Aim High is a 4-year, tuition-free program for middle school students (rising 6th - 9th) who attend a 5-week summer program and 8 Saturdays during the school year. Students apply to attend with preference given to students schools in St Louis City, Normandy, Ritenour and U-City where bus transportation is provided with pick ups and drop offs at select schools. Aim High empowers motivated middle school students to strengthen their character, self-confidence, determination, and initiative through an academically challenging and personal enrichment program. Students participate for four years, enabling them to take full advantage of a comprehensive curriculum that positively impacts their long-term futures. Aim High seeks 5th-grade average students who are motivated to achieve. Peference is given to students who have good attendance, qualify for free/reduced lunch (preferred), would be first generation college students (preferred), and are recommended by their current teacher. A DAY AT AIM HIGH 7:30–8:15 MORNING PICKUP BY BUS/ARRIVAL AT AIM HIGH SITE: Aim High provides transportation to all students. 8:15–8:30 BREAKFAST/MORNING ASSEMBLY 8:45–9:30 MATH with a focus on "Number System, Expressions and Equations" 9:35–10:20 SCIENCE with a focus on "Scientific Inquiry" 10:25 –11:10 SOCIAL STUDIES: with a focus on "Tools for Social Science Inquiry" 11:15–12:00 ENGLISH: with a focus on “Literary and Information Literacy” 12:00–12:45 PHYSICAL FUN: Team and individual sports/exercise/activities 12:45–1:25 LUNCH: A hot and healthy daily lunch with encouraged interaction between faculty, teaching assistants, and students 1:30–1:55 ADVISORY: Character development/education and issue exploration 2:00–2:40 ELECTIVES: Students select from a wide variety of elective courses each summer. Electives maintain high expectations for participation and skill mastery. 2:45–3:30 DISMISSAL/BUS RIDE HOME
