Aim High’s primary goal is to deliver an academic program that will motivate promising middle school
students to raise their educational aspirations, finish high school and become positive contributors to their community. This tuition-free opportunity provides access to the resources, opportunities and people that can help students succeed in school and beyond. Applications are accepted beginning in January each year for acceptance to this 4-year, year-round community of commited, caring people all focused on learning, connection and success. Once accepted, Achievers participate each summer in the 5-week program and are able to take advantage of Saturday school year programs as well. Transportation, meals and all learning supplies are provided free of charge to our families. Priority for admission to the program is given to families who qualify for free and reduced meals, are at least average performing academically, are likely to be first generation college attendees, and who have good attendance during the school year. "Summers are made for fun and Aim High makes learning a blast! Aim High's five-week summer program runs from 7:30am-3:30pm Monday through Friday. Buses transport students from neighborhood schools to one of two program sites - John Burroughs and St. Louis Priory schools. The summer session includes hands on learning opportunities in: math, science, language arts and social studies. During the five-week summer session, students receive two meals daily (lunches are the BEST), all the supplies they'll need to get creative in the classroom, and participate in physical fitness, advisory (character education) and an elective class each day. The summer program is a special opportunity for students to meet and build friendships with other motivated students and all programming is designed to maximize fun, provide opportunities to explore skills and talents, and to get out into the St. Louis community. Field trips, outdoor education, career & college exploration, guest speakers, talent shows and so much more are packed into the 5-week program. Attendance for the full 5-weeks is essential to receive program benefits.
Once accepted to the program, students participate each summer through their transition to high school. Additional school year programs ensure students stay connected to each other and their identity as an Achiever, supporting success in school and beyond.
